Please understand that my opinions and observations are based on a trip that lasted less than 1 week in which everything to see & explore was not seen or explored. I've lived in South Florida for over 20 years and still haven't seen everything there is to offer down here. So by no means am I an expert on TN or the cities we visited.
I do want to thank everyone here on the forum who assisted in pointing us in the right direction. Your posts and thoughts during the trip were greatly appreciated. I found Chattanooga to be a city that's comfortable with itself. Comfortable in its size & appearance, and not trying to be anything other than itself. The people were very friendly--on almost every occasion we told locals about our plans to possibly move and everyone was not only enthusiastic but had a tip on great neighborhoods that we should check out. We really liked the downtown area (who wouldn't?) and the neighborhoods in North Chattanooga (Red Bank, etc...) Afterwards I realized that we made a mistake of not driving north on Hixson Pike to see St Elmo and other nice areas that way, but I think we got a feel for that part of town. |

Tridad, Oh how I enjoyed your trip. Your pics and video were outstanding. You showed us a lot of the areas that I wanted to see. Thanks again for the taking us all on your trip. We live in Clearwater, Tampa Bay area of FL and will not be able to move for about 3 years, however, we have plenty of time to look around to see where we would like to eventually call home. I hope you find the place you are looking for and hope your family is doing well. Thank you again!!

I see everyone interested in moving here I moved here 2. yrs. ago. Suggest to rent first then decide where and make sure you buy smart. If having a house built check out the builder on tn.gov make sure lic. and insured....Ours walk off the job and left us hanging....And people don't understand the concept of property values along with getting them perked and soil tested first before buying and mineral rights. In the mountains I have learned alot and I work everyday educating my clients the way I learned. We moved here from Tampa FL and learn alot.

the area of Chattanooga that everyone seems to be excited about is East Brainerd & Ooltewah (which means owl's nest btw) which is teaming with activity in the form of new construction (subdivisions & shopping) The area around the mall was very busy (especially for a weekday) and I can only imagine what it will become (traffic wise) in the future. The roadways do not seem adequate for what they're building in terms of new subdivisions. I can see the family going out there for some shopping or to eat at one of the multiple restaurants that we saw there
It's definitely boom town there! We really liked Chattanooga, and feel like it's a good place to raise a family. The traffic on the south and east side were a little bit more than what I'd expected from a town this size, however, I was amazed at how little traffic there was going/coming from downtown to the north. |
