Tridad -- your video of "W" Streeton Signal Mountain is AWESOME! My husband and I are moving up there, renting at first, etc. This thread has invaluable information for us and I'm so elated to read everything and see all the videos! Many, many thanks! By the way -- I didn't see switchbacks like that in COLORADO!

Hi Tridad, we went to East tennessee right after you were back. I see that you are moving to chattanooga area. We also loved it there. Are you concerned about the schools there? My daughters are 2 and almost 5 and I have been reading bad stuff on the schools. we went to maryville which is suppose to have better schools and liked it there also, but something about chattanooga, keeps pulling my mind back there. i heard signal mountain has the better schools. What do you think, even tho your daughter is 2. thanks

I know your question was aimed at Tridad, but speaking as someone that has a four year old and has lived in Chattanooga and gone through the public school system. The schools aren't all that bad... The schools have had a bad reputation for a while now and although there have been significant improvements, it is still a work in progress. Things seem to be on the up and up though. Test scores are getting better, Chattanooga has finally been able to get more state funding that they have really fought for and with the building of some new schools, things are really starting to look better. This is not brought up often, but if I'm correct, Chattanooga has one of the best magnet schools in the country and we have some really good private schools. The inner city schools still need some work, but with (finally) a new superintendent, there seems to be some real progress being made throughout the system, not just talk anymore. |
