employee benefits advisor
thanks everyone for the good tips! I'm actually in the insurance business....employee benefits is my forte so I work with a lot of small/medium sized companies in developing/implementing/servicing their insurance benefits. I'm known to the employees of my client companies as the "insurance guy"
I'm really digging Chattanooga, but don't want to rule out Knoxville just yet.

When I lived closer to Knoxville, we would make the trip to go to this restaurant that is in a hotel, I believe it is in the Raddison??? It is upstairs in a loft type seating area. They have a buffet on the weekends with chefs cooking pasta in front of you, prime rib, seafood........SOOO much food and a nice older lady playing the piano while you eat. It wasn't bad priced either for the wonderful food. Now mind you this was 6 or so years ago it was $16 per person. Not sure if this is what you are looking for food wise, but it will give you a good idea of other sales professionals in the Knoxville area as I believe that is the clientèle. It is less than a block west of Gay street down town Knox. Just a thought that came to me when you said places to eat in Knoxville. I enjoyed it so much, I still recall it all these years later LOL!

something's missing
we've been watching the local news (channel 10) for the last 40 minutes and haven't seen any stories on shootings/stabbings/hit-and-runs/drug busts . are we watching the wrong channel for this stuff?
down in south florida we don't have time full length, in-depth, feel good pieces about the college concrete canoe competition. On a side note...my alma mater (FIU) was represented there
if anyone died in the knoxville today, we haven't heard/seen it. Almost every night on local south florida news, we see video of covered bodies

the internet connection here isn't as fast so it's taking longer to upload. Here's some video of Fountain Springs in Knoxville. We drove around the residential neighborhoods...

I'll be darned if I can figure out where you were! That church with the apartments was kind of weird!
I'm getting the feeling you like Chatt better. I thought you would. I do, too.
While you were at Litton's I was flying a kite with my daughter.
It's true, the crime situation is much better than it is in Florida. When we first moved from Fort Myers, we use to get such a kick out of the news reports. Lots of happy stories!
That subdivision that Hoosier07 was talking about isn't too far from you. It's called Shannon Valley, I think, and it is behind the East Town Mall. You might want to check out Farragut, too and West Knoxville if you like subdivisions. I'm three exits up from you off of Raccoon Valley Road. Not much where I live though. More horses and cows than people. I live in a dumpy mobile home rental. Bleah!

Athens
let's back up a bit....while driving up on Lee Hwy (Route 11) we went through a number of small towns. Athens is a small town with a nice historic area. Here's a couple houses we saw there:

Philadelphia train
Lee Highway (route 11) runs parallel to the rail tracks. Coming out of a convenience store in Philadelphia I caught the tail end of train running by. It's fun to imagine what the railroad meant to these small towns back in the day. I imagine it was very exciting when the train pulled into town.
