I wouldn't characterize Ooltewah as snotty. Like other areas where new growth meets old timers, there are bound to be a few conflicts.

i find ooltewah to be nice and friendly...i have small children, and as someone else said, it does seem that all the "action" is on the other side of town (east brainerd area or downtown chatt area). but my idea of action is taking the kids places. the homes are generally nice in this area. there are some snotty people just like anywhere else, i suppose, but for the most part I have found it to be pretty down to earth.

Ooltewah snotty? Hardly. Yes it has grown some and Ooltweah still has its share of rednecks. I grew up there and go back often to visit my parents who have been in Ohhhhtahwall (how the locals pronounce it) for 25+ years.
I have been in Atlanta the last 10 years and traffic is a dream compared to Ooltewah.
If I had to move back I would look around the Snow Hill Georgetown area. It is a little more rural and the houses tend to have bigger lots. It is also very close to I-75 so it is easy to get downtown if need be.
The huge negative to TN despite the huge plusses (no income tax, low property taxes, friendly people) is the road construction. The idiot crews see to start work at 8:00 am and finish at 6:00 and work right through rush hour traffic. This is why it takes 10 years to do a basic road project. Any other city would have the project finished in a few months.
P.S. My dad mentioned that the city of Chattanooga has discussed annexing Ooltewah for the tax revenue. If that happens watch out because property taxes will be no fun to pay. I would go over to the Apison area which is nice before I paid those taxes. Apison is nice and not very fall from Ooltewah but may be just far out of reach for the City to Annex.

seems to be a lot of people relocating to the Chattanooga area, maybe good for the area's economy, we will be moving as well by Oct 1 from PA...looking for to all the "nice" people, PA folks are ignorant in every sense. I'm a Baltimore girl.
Hope to meet some folks once we get down there, make new friends!

Tennesee just does not have snotty people. I live in the next town over from Ooltewah (Collegedale) and in the nearly 50 years I have been here I have never run into anyone who was haughty or pretentious.
We welcome you to Tennessee and hope you find a location that is just the right one for you.
