would like to get help from local in Chatanooga (Knoxville: rent , job)

I live in Orlando and hate it! If you don't speak Spanish, you are fast becoming a minority around here. Not prejudice against Spanish. But this is America and people should speak English. I lived in Maryville outside of Knoxville for 10 years and decided to move back to Orlando. What a mistake! I have applied for a job in Chatanooga that just became available. If I get the job I don't know the area that well and am looking for an inexpensive yet safe place to rent until I settle in and learn the area better and really decide where I want to settle at. I am looking for a community within driving distance to the airport that is safe. Anyone local or anyone familar with Chatanooga have any suggestions. I am a little anxious and hope the quality of life is as good as or similar to knoxville. It has to be safer and friendlier than it is living here.

S. We are about 10 months ahead of you, having lived East of you in Brevard co. Seems the North -East side of city will be your target, however it is fast growing and your IN-Expensive word may be a challenge.
Your best bet would target a community, then find your CHURCH you wish to join, and they will be more Direct help to get your re-located. Lots of Word-of-mouth or network find offered that are not really advertised in papers. Lots of receration / festivals / volunteer / community events here to enjoy the scenery.
