I've read a few posts saying soddy lake or the pops are the places to be. It appears it's more of a "tailgating" enviroment. I want to stay downtown and see other areas. Are there good downtown areas I'd like to see?

Pops in the Park takes place in Coolidge Park which is across the river from downtown. It's a great family venue, and a lot of people show up in the afternoon and make a picnic of it.
Last year the event was held on the 3rd and coincided with a fireworks display by the Chattanooga Lookouts (our minor league baseball team). The team will again have fireworks at the end of the game on the 3rd, but they play away on the 4th.
It really is a lot of fun - see for yourself with our video from last year

Thanks so much; great video! Anywhere that you recommend is less family and more "party" oriented?
You guys could stay on the downtown side, eat and have drinks, watch the fireworks across the river then resume the party. Downtown has many clubs, pool halls and such that you might enjoy. Lotsa bikes and beer. I think that's just about the best we can do...
you want South Beach? sorry we don't have that here
Lol, If I had a choice, I want a lot more than south beach! But I'm interested in the best party spot you guys have to offer; looks like downtown is it. What about Nashville, is that generally a better spot?

If you want to party in Chattanooga there are several places you can go. For starters, Chattanooga is a festival town. We have the
**Southern Brewers Festival - travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2867614-southern_brewers_festival_chattanooga-i;_ylt=Aov3aD3gJFFM_lMLfwXUzeuyUGoL
**Wine Over Water - travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2867608-wine_over_water_chattanooga-i;_ylt=AroMhMnaD4DpInUsPhG9dt6yUGoL
**Riverbend - www.riverbendfestival.com/
and **Nightfall - travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-2867628-nightfall_concert_series_chattanooga-i;_ylt=AsCpvN6ceZJkABgmV9P2Z_CyUGoL
I know that there are quite a bit of festivals that I'm forgetting. You could probably find more if you look around online. Chattanooga has so many every year that I lose track. (Sorry, I couldn't get those links above to come out right, but you should be able to copy and paste them into your browser.)
We also have some pretty good bars too. You could check out Jack's Alley, 420 Broad Street. It's a little clustering of bar's Downtown. Then there's always Parkway Billards, 35 Patten Pkwy, and Chattanooga Billiards Club (CBC), 725 1/2 Cherry Street, if you need something to do while you drink, lol. Again, there are probably several that I'm forgetting. But Chattanooga is even more fun if you can befriend a local and get them to show you around.
Good luck to you!! I hope you find the party you're searching for!!
