Default I have SPECIFIC relocation questions--help please

Hello all thanks for reading. I have read the relocation threads, but I have specific questions. We may be moving our family to Chatt for BCBS. We have very young children, and would want to live no more than 10 minutes away from work. Yes I do understand N. chatt is better, but I am so tired of 20+ minute drives. Please please give me some good neighborhood/street names that we should look into for renting in the downtown area. we just rather not have crackheads, prostitutes, and drug deals going on at the street corner. we like liberals & melting pot areas--just don't want to get car jacked, raped, robbed. please help
**also anyone know of realtors to stay away from or phony rental ads from foreclosing people, that will help.
ALSO...please any suggestion on any good non-religious preschools? thanks everyone in advance

North Chattanooga to Blue Cross is a 10 minute commute (or less) Do you have to have a house or would you be open to a townhouse/condo arrangement? I know of a rental agent who would be able to help. DM if you want her info.

Check Bright School: Main Site for pre-school. They are located in North Chattanooga.

Default Check out Highland Park

My wife and I have lived on Chamberlain Ave in Highland Park for the past 5 years. The neighborhood has changed a lot in those years. We're about 6 minutes with traffic from the new BCBS campus. If you like melting pots, this is the place...none of our neighbors are from here. On our block alone, we have Florida, Montana, Minnesota, Chi-town, Atlanta, Houston, California, and more represented. Pretty cool stuff. young families too! Most people moving into the area are 35 and younger with small children. About 15 kids live within a five house radius of us. Great place to be right now. Oh yeah, a new park/commons is now slated for the neighborhood with work to begin in the next couple months.

As a side note, my neighbor also works for BCBS doing PR...he loves HP!

Most areas 10 min from downtown are not infested with crime, so you'll need to be more specific on what you're looking for.

You really have to visit the area in person to get a "feel" for what is a right fit for you. For instance, a poster above suggests Highland Park, and I wouldn't live in Highland Park if the house were given to me for free. I just don't like the area. North Chatt is very close, just a quick ride over the Tennessee river and you are at Blue Cross, but North Chatt is very expensive, as is housing directly downtown, which is even more expensive. The big question is how much money do you want to spend? There are parts of St. Elmo that you may want to check out, but that area is hit or miss, so you have to be careful, but it's close to downtown.
