I would also like to know about the best places to live near Chattanooga. Anybody familiar with the Girls Preparatory School near Chattanooga? We're thinking of sending our child there.

Default What the best places to live around Chattanooga

It really depends on what you are looking for. I'm gay and in a relationship, and I wouldn't live in Soddy-Daisy, Lookout, or Signal (esp. Signal) for anything, but that's my preference because I don't like the suburbs. I live in Highland Park and love it. It's a true "neighborhood", as in people know their neighbors and look out for one another. You don't find that in many places.

I am moving to chattanooga in a couple of weeks. I would like to find an aparment or townhouse about 20 or 30 miles outside chattanooga, somewhere in the mountains. Signal or look out mtn look good. Is there any thing else like that there? Any recommendations?

guns,

Lookout and signal are only a few minutes from Chattanooga, and while they are mountains for sure they aren't country-living mountains, they are higher end suburbs. If that's what your looking for you might find an apartment complex on Signal, but none on Lookout.

Ooltewah is not nicer than Soddy. Unless an abundance of McSubdivisions and white vans is your idea of nicer. SD has nicer natural surroundings and more importantly nicer residents.

Soddy Daisy is just too far from downtown to even consider living there. I doubt the people there are any more friendly than the ones in Ooltewah either. Everybody has their own idea of what the perfect place is to live. It's different for everybody. I think Soddy Daisy is too far from the city and the drive is a bear. Oltewah is clean and frienldly with a lot of new homes and lots of 7th day adventists. So it really depends what you are looking for.
