We were planning to move to Chattanooga in February, under the assumption our landlords would extend our lease to the end of February, but......
Their original plan was to sell this house when they moved out of state. When it did not sell, they rented it to us for one year. Based on our first conversations with them about extending our lease, we thought that we had a good plan with lots of time figure it all out.
Monday night, they called us and told us they do not want to renew, they want to price the house to sell and get out of it quick. I think they bought a smaller house than they wanted up in N. Carolina and they are now expecting again, so time to get rid of this house so they can get the house they really want.
That leaves us without a house at the end of August and it would really be ridiculous to move in to another house down here in S. Florida! Especially because we have a good deal here and it would cost a lot with first, last, and deposit for another one.
Sooooooooooooo....Chattanooga here we come! Well, at the end of August anyway.
We will rent an apartment for 6-12 months and then look to buy, when we are more confident of the areas we like. My in-laws will follow probably within a year if all goes well and then my mom will move from CA when she retires in 5 years God willing!
I was going to quit my job this summer and do some contract work, doing adoption home studies, anyway, so I can be home with our little one (I can likely do that there...already spoke with the director of one agency that does adoptions and she said there is a need in the area). Jon (husband - Tridad) has his own book of group and individual insurance business in FL that he can maintain from up there, while he gets licensed there and in GA. The hope is to have insurance business in three states.
I thought we were stuck, because I can't test for my licensure exam until September or October, and I thought I had to be in FL to do it. I contacted the state of Florida and they said I can test anywhere in the country there is a testing site (Chattanooga has one) and I can be a resident in another state and still receive my license from here. Again, perfect! I have to follow through with licensure in FL, because it has been almost three years of work, two extra grad school classes that the state made me take on top of my MSW, over 100 hours of supervision, one medical errors class, one laws and rules class and lots of paperwork in the making. The best part is that TN will reciprocate because FL standards are even more stringent for the LCSW.
It is always interesting to see how God works! Here we thought we had it all figured out, but he had another time-line in mind altogether! That is fine with me, because I know who's in charge! And I am glad it is not me, because I would screw it all up anyway!
So, we will keep you posted, as anything could change at anytime, but that is where we stand right now. For those, that are the praying kind, some prayers would be greatly appreciated!
Everyone has been so awesome on this board and we have learned so much from all of you! Thank you so much! We really appreciate it.....
