What do you think of N Chattanooga
Wondering what your impression of N Chatt is. We have a friend (new) who has a house for rent there that we are going to view this weekend. I've only drove by the GPS side of that part of town, so any input is appreciated thanks.....

Bring Money
A: If you are going to buy a new Trek bike when you get to town , bring money . ! One of the Mtn bikes was $ 3,500 . Not even Pro model . Out the door racer was $ 5,500.
.. Greenlife deli / market , many upscale items, nifty , bring your ATM card.
Lots of brick bldgs being remodeled into shops & cafes. Parking meters for cars, or even get a new scooter or new electric bike at the shop.

Like most neighborhoods it has it's good streets and not so good streets. Most locals would agree it's a desirable part of town for its location and proximity to shopping, dining and outdoor activities.

I'm still new to the area myself (only been here a few weeks), but I'm staying in the North Shore/Red Bank area and have been around the North Shore a bit. Assuming that's the area you mean by North Chatt. It is definitely a nicer area, not really seedy or anything. The North Shore itself is a little bit trendy, sort of college/arts scene, small/unique shops and restaurants, and Coolidge Park is great. Although at night the Coolidge Park/Walnut Street Bridge appears to be home to some shadier and homeless people, but doesn't seem too bad. Have been down there at night several times and never any problems at all.
The rest of North Chatt./Red Bank/etc. seems nice enough to me. Not perfect, but never hear of or see anything bad happening, and some of it is more upscale.

We spent a great evening on the Northshore last night. Dinner at Taco Mamacita, stroll across the Walnut St Bridge over to the Ice Cream Shop and then back over to Stone Cup for a night cap. Walking the bridge at night is special. There are usually quite a number of couples out and we did not feel there was a bad element whatsoever.

Thanks so much, still waiting for the police dept to call back with crime statistics. It's in that Northside area with a business/residential mix. I know there is a residential & day facility for drug and alcohol abusers which does scare me, would you live there???? I also plan to drive there one late night during the week. All info is appreciated.
