We're fine now that I've discovered the advantages of living on the side of a hill
Those living in low lying areas not so good. Some apartment complexes have had to be evacuated and just heard yesterday the East Ridge Animal Shelter had to vacate and they were looking for temp homes for about 25 pets.

TriDad,
That's terrible about the shelter. Do you know if they were able to find homes for the animals?

I tried calling to see if we could help but couldn't get through. After about 20 attempts I gave up. Haven't heard much in the form of other requests for help...

Can anyone post the specific areas of Chattanooga that are suffering from flooding?

I've been following all of this and I'm sorry to see what happened. I used to live in East Ridge, and there were parts of town that always had problems. Eastgate Mall got flooded several times when I lived there, and the central area of Ringgold Road had problems too. I saw that McBrien Elementary got flooded. I attended McBrien from 1970 to 1972, so I was sad to see that.

Brainerd was hit pretty hard but mostly in the commercial area on Lee Hwy/Brainerd Rd. Amazingly enough the East Gate area was ok. The levee was WAY high. East Ridge near Spring Creek and the hospital and where the water park was supposed to go was under water and the hotel up by the tunnels... Oh did ya'll see the camper dealership on I75? I think the Red Cross is set up @ the Brainerd Rec Center.

East Chatt
R.G. : Seems like the East side of the city had the sudden flooding . The Weather Channel had a good TV review last night of prior water damage area, when a system like this was not really a fully NAMED tropcial storm.
. This time a slow moving Low was over N.E. Georgia dumping aound 20 inches of rain. Creeks or the South Chickamauga creek that flows north towards Chattanooga really swelled & caused the damage along its banks.

Here are some pictures I snapped from right down the road from us. It's the intersection of Gunbarrel Rd and Davidson Rd. Keep in mind when looking at these photos that there's no river here. That big river looking thing is normally a field and a road.
