Default Visiting over Thanksgiving

One of our favorite vacations was Chattanooga. Now that our children are 8 and 5, we want to take them to see the beauty of Chattanooga. We will be visiting over Thanksgiving and I was hoping to get some help from locals.

Since there will be five of us (myself, husband, mother-in-law, and 2 children), we need a suite that can accomade us. Something with 2 beds and a sofa sleeper. We also are trying to keep the price reasonable. Everything downtown is out of our price range. I did find a Comfort Suites that is in our price range.

Comfort Suites
2431 Williams St. , Chattanooga, TN, US, 37408
Phone: (423) 265-0008

Can you tell me if this is an ok part of town and if anyone knows anything about the hotel personally...cleanliness, convenience to attractions, etc? That would be so appreciated.

Also, when we visited several years ago, we ate Thanksgiving dinner on the Southern Belle Riverboat. That is one option we are considering. If anyone has any other suggestions for places to eat Thanksgiving dinner, that would be wonderful.

Thanks so much for any help and have a blessed day!

I can say without a doubt that the best Thanksgiving dinner will be served at our house. My wife is an amazing cook!

As for attractions - consider checking out the Grand Illumination at Ross' Landing. Santa Claus will be lighting the Christmas tree along with the Choo Choo Kids. We went in '07 and had a great time. Last year we were out of town, but should be there this year.

That hotel is just south of I-24, and is still considered part of downtown. It's not the best part of town. You should be ok in the hotel itself, but I wouldn't do any late night walking.

Agreed, we stayed in a hotel (don't recall the name, it was a little cheaper)across the street from the Comfort Suites on Williams Street a few years ago, and it was not the best part of town. I'd concur though that you are only a few minutes away from the nice part of downtown by car, but there is nothing you can go to on foot - nor would I try it.

You might try Signal Mountain for hotels in the same price range and still close enough to the downtown area. You really can't beat all of the things you'll be able to do like the Aquarium, the Discovery Museum, Imax, new Majestic movie theater, etc. Never been to the Choo Choo, I hear it is great.

Your kids are the perfect age for downtown!

Have you checked the Day's Inn in Downtown on Carter Street. No frills but it is reasonably priced, safe area & super convenient location. The free Electric shuttle runs right by it as well, making it great for car-free adventures to the Riverfront, Aquarium, Majestic theatre et cetera.
