That's quite an age range... Are you looking for inside-type things or outside-type things? Christmas-specific activities, or just fun things to do? How physically fit is the group?

We enjoyed Rock City Enchanted Garden of Lights when we went last year and the year before, but the problem was that there were approximately 10 million (plus or minus) other people there at the same time. Not too strenuous, there are short-cuts if you get tired, and there's a good spot for a break in the middle with food vendors and heated areas. The outdoor portion was very well done. But the end wasn't well done because everyone has to cram through the fairy land tunnels and gift shop. Very fun if you don't mind crowds. Buy tickets in advance to save much waiting in line.

If you're all in decent shape and the weather's nice I recommend a walk at the Lula Lake Land Trust on December 26 or January 2 (it's only open to the public on the first and last Saturdays of each month). Lula Falls is impressive any time, and quite spectacular when frozen. The falls are about a mile walk down a mostly level grade (old railroad bed) from parking. If you have one nice person who's in better shape, that person can drop the rest of you off about 1/3 mile from the falls then loop back around to park. For more strenuous activity you can hike up to the top of Eagle Cliff for spectacular views of the Chattanooga/Chickamauga valley with the Appalachian Mountains to the east.

When I lived in Chattanooga (a little less than 2 years ago), my wife and kids ALWAYS enjoyed the EPB Christmas display downtown. But, my kids at that time were very young (all less than 5).

Here is an article from the Times Free Press re last years display with video:
Chattanooga Times Free Press | Chattanooga: EPB opens holiday windows

Here's an additional article re "10 Chattanooga Holiday Traditions" (from 2007):

Another article (from 2008) with "Holiday Events":

All great comments above. I would add Christmas on the River and the Lighted Boat Parade but that may be end of November (Thanksgiving).
