YES, YES, YES...I FINALLY got my husband to give in and give TN a try!!!!
![]() Read some of my posts, and you will think I am looney ![]() OK, I am familiar with Knoxville, but have choosen to check Chattanooga out instead. Husband is in the restaurant business (bartender/ barmanager), and we would use Chattanooga as a place to find employment in. But, where would you guys recommend to live (NOT in the city)? ![]() I am not saying, I am looking for a "cheap" area to live in, but rather a middle class, do-able and reasonable. Want peace and quiet, and a nicely kept, older home with some land (1-2 acres). Anybody have some ideas, info's for us? It's kind of urgent, because we are leaving on a road trip soon, snooping around in the area. Thank's y'all! ![]() |

BTW..I think we might end up renting first...unless, we find the perfect place to move to, and a house would become available immediately.

PENN: I would say possible land over a acre or two off Jackson rd / LEVI rd, this is sort of west Hixon at #153 / 27 merge. Sort of called North Red Bank, or South of Sod-Daisy., at the base of the plateau. May be hard to find 2 acres closer to city.
2) Also north of the City, Hamilton county is still a DRY county. The voters keep getting closer to pass full liquor, but not many restaurants , clubs north of the city, but that may start to change each year. If main job is Bar-tending. |

The outlying areas of Chattanooga are all what you described. If your hubby works in the city or even near Hamilton place, you will be able to find an older home on a little land. Maybe even right away if you knew where to start looking. We recently purchased an acre in Harrison which is 20 mins from the center of the city when traffic is bad. We now live in East Ridge and are trying to sell our small home but we have lived here since 96 and loved it. There is Red Bank for older homes. If you want a more country setting, then try Ooltewah or Collegedale. I would be willing to point you in the right direction concerning neighborhoods when you come to town. Just let me know.

Yeah moving! That's great news. For rentals try Red Bankzip37415. That area has the most rentals. On Mountain Creek Road just at the foot of Signal Mtn. You have cheap cheap and some nicer luxery condo types as well.
