Just tried calling the shop at sams and they didn't answer. I'll be calling them tomorrow to let them know they are being screwed. He moves from place to place so he doesn't become known. He was just living in Florida a few months ago and new Mexico before that. Glad I saw this thread.

For $40 to $60 K, he could have the car completely restored by the best restorer in the country. It's total BS..

For a 1960's C2 Stingray I'm pretty sure you can't just pop in to Sam's Club (or even Discount Tire) and find vintage repro bias-ply tires on the shelves. You probably need to order them from Coker. This guy is an idiot.

If characters like this would only devote as much time and energy towards an honest endeavor rather than "fllimflams" . . . HE WOULD BE A MILLIONAIRE.

Maybe we should all start calling him at the BuyHere PayHere place where he's a used car salesman.

This thing smells like last week's fish. He took a patched up Vette in, claiming it was mint, and then "uncovered" all that damage, hoping for a big payday. He has scam artist written all over him, his story simply doesn't add up.

Hope Sam's Club investigates him and finds out his background and sues him for fraud and defamation.

Bs there is no way he had 40-60 k in damage. Who the f takes a mint Vette to a discount place for tires. I can understand a run of the mill Toyota. Guy is a moron. And if he is a scam artist. Ah well. I hope SAMs tells him to take a hike

I just had a police investigator in at work the other day and the subject of fraudulent claims came up. He was telling me stories of how people torch their boats and cars, then put in an insurance claim. He said he has had 100% proof that someone did it, but the insurance companies choose a lot of times to simply write a check, rather than go through pressing charges or contesting it.

I bet this "vintage Corvette" was insured to the hilt, and probably just before this happened. If Sams doesn't give him his big settlement he will probably put in a claim and get his money that way.

No Vette cracks that badly from the things he described, I bet there was bondo'd over previous damage to make it look good, then mysteriously it was damaged by "incompetent" mechanics. A friend of mine had a 64 vette roadster and he fell asleep and hit the back of a truck going the same direction. It didn't have the kind of damage this guy claims he got from them lifting it off the guys arm.

I would love to know the history of that particular Vette.

Don

Vintage Corvette and Sams club should never be used in the same sentence.. Unless the wife is smoking hot and driving it there to get some burgers and dogs....
