As for the V.... incredible machine. Wish I had the cash for one.
That may have been true 50 years ago. They've made great strides in the last 5 years, no doubt, but even Cadillac acknowledges they've fallen off the podium long ago. Bentley, Rolls, those marques define true luxury. They are simply in a different league than Caddilac, or BMtroubleyoo, or other similar makes.

The STS is really the class competitor to the 5 and E class. The B car may be coming, though that was a rumor that came about before the recent highlights of GM's problems. Doesn't change the fact that the CTS-V is too big for my tastes. Detriot might have alot cooler cars if they just weren't so damn big and heavy. Guess that's what happens when fat guys from Detriot design them

You can basically credit Bob Lutz for the CTS and bringing over the Holden(G8). Whether or not it turns out to be too little, too late, remains to be seen.

Well, I never considered my former 1966 Dodge Dart GT, at 196.3", "big." It was a compact.
The 2009 Cadillac CTS-V is only 191.6"!

Just going to bypass the Z06. The Z06 will spank the V.

Here The Z06's LS7 7.0L engine delivers 505 horsepower (377 kW)in a 3,132-pound (1,421 kg) package - a combination that delivers 0-60performance of 3.7 seconds in first gear, quarter-mile times of 11.7seconds at 125 mph and a top speed of 198 mph .

CTS-V, with its supercharged 6.2-liter LSA engine, has achieved
SAE-certified peak output of 556 horsepower (415 kW) at 6100 rpm and
551 lb.-ft. (747 Nm) of torque at 3800 rpm.
-- CTS-V accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. CTS-V covers the
quarter-mile in 12 seconds at 118 mph. These acceleration times are
believed to be the fastest for any V-8-powered sedan currently in
production.

For the money the CTS V is a better buy for the money.

I prefer the Cadillac styling to the dime a dozen soft lines of the Mercedes (luxury, middlin' performance) and the generic look of the BMW (good performance with none o da trimmings).

When I was growing up, I always wondered why the people on tv or in the movies always wanted one...when everyone around here has one. Hardly special.

Seriously man. 5-series BMWs are about as rare as nitrogen molecules. Give up the "exclusive" act already.
