Probably good I passed on that 72 Brougham considering it was a really ugly color. Had it not been, it would've been good considering it was low mileage/one owner. It's good I did pass it up as later this year I was able to find a better deals on a 62 Continental convertible. My uncle also bought a 78 Continental I found too.
It really sucks that one 72 got scrapped just because the interior was ruined. I'm sure it still scrapped for a lot minus the motor, but he probably could've gotten more money out of it to someone to restore it.
Does anyone have a list with some of the other longest cars?
Following the '73 LeBaron's record length:
-1974-76 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham - 233.7"
-1975 Buick Electra 225 - 233.4"
-1973 Olsdmobile 98 - 233.2"
-1976 Chrysler New-Yorker - 232.7"
Some of these (especially 1973 models) have huge bumper guards which misrepresent the car's length somewhat.
The heaviest 70's sedan I've heard of : 1975 Lincoln continental @ 5,424.
The lincoln brochure which can be seen here: http://www.city-data.com/forum/autom...inental-2.html
Seems to contradict Motor Trend, with the heaviest non-mark lincoln @ 5,366, not 5,425.
Perhaps your article featured the 1975 model?

The Imperial rocks! Lets see, electronic ignition (a chrysler first in 71), Sure Brakefour-wheel anti-skid brakes (not just two rear wheels like the competition), and an excellent five-speaker stereo system that sounds great (I know!). The styling of the fusalage mopars have always been controversial but I think it is smooth, modern, and aggressive looking; the best skirts of the three luxury cars. The Lincoln looks like a box of Kleenex and handles like a barge compared to the Imperial (I've owned both); however, they're built well and the ride is soft and quiet. The Cadillac is the worst of the three; uninspired and derivitive styling. The 71-73 Cadillac's featured the super ugly parking light arrangement that was (thankfully) put to rest after 73. Looks like a very old person's car, especially compared to the Imp.
For a good driver, that is no big deal.
I've parallel-parked my '76 Cadillac limo quite a few times. The side view mirrors help a lot.
Thats what I was going to say. You get used to it. I have owned 76 Town Cars, 72 Sedan DeVille, 78 Town Car, 72 Electra, etc and now a 72 Caprice Estate and a 73 Grand Ville. I can dock them anywhere.

Yeah, I have actually seen people driving little Toyotas and Hondas who take longer to park than I do with my cars.

Here is my 1973 Pontiac Grand Ville... I took this pic today down by the workshop. While not as long as say a 73 Fleetwood Brougham, its still a long and wide car. I can turn it in a part of my driveway (on one try) where I have some people in Toyota Yaris' or Nissan Sentras have to try about 3 times. lol.
