Default How is Roselle?

My wife and I are both from the Chicagoland area, western suburbs, but have lived in Florida for the past 9 years and are looking to move back this time next year. Over the past few months we have been researching various suburbs online in order to get a better idea of where we could comfortably live and Roselle keeps popping up. The homes there seem to fit our budget ($300k-$350k for a older home) and the property taxes are somewhat affordable. The elementary schools seem okay (for the future if we have kids) and I know the high school is good as I went there (Lake Park) unless it has changed dramatically in the last 12 years?? The location seems ideal as it is near all the major highways and they have a train station which would be ideal as I will probably have to commute to the city each day for work. So on paper all looks well but I would love to hear from real people who either live there or who have lived there recently to get a better idea.

If not Roselle, can anyone point me to another area that I may be missing say within a 15 mile radius from there? We really do not want to pay more then $350k for housing and if we had to do a town home for a few years that would be fine too. Hopefully a little cheaper then $350k though if we got into a town home.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Hi, my wife and I currently live in Roselle. We have lived in Roselle for the past 3 years and within 10mi of the area for the last 18 years, so I can give you my perspective on things.

From what you are describing and looking for I think Roselle is a great fit. You
will definitely find a home in that price range, although it will most likely be west of Roselle Rd. You're right about the school districts- they are among the best in the state so you can't go wrong with that. The traffic in the morning can get pretty rough on the Elgin/Ohare Expy, but if you work in the city the Metra is a great choice as there is a train station located right in downtown Roselle. The downtown area is currently being developed with many new businesses and shops opening up around Irving Pk Rd along with new condo buildings so you may want to look into that.

You mentioned townhomes. There is a great subdivision of townhomes priced from 197k-300k depending on the number of bedrooms on the west side of Roselle, right near the Schaumburg Metra stop off Rodenburg Rd. These are relatively new, about 8-9 yrs old and very conveniently located. I live in one of these and it's about a 7 min walk to the train station (since i work in the city). The residents here are very active and friendly. You can always see people jogging, walking dogs, etc after work and in the mornings. The area is also very safe- I don't think you can go wrong with anywhere in Roselle.

One other thing- it's only about a 15 min drive to Schaumburg and the Woodfield Mall area, tons of good shopping and dining.

Hope I helped, if you need other any info PM me, I'll be happy to help.
