It will also take some of the financial burden off of some of the parents. That piece of land is NOT the place to put a factory...and besides, even if there was industrial property there, it would not employ nearly as many people as the outlets would.
I'm wondering though, if this project hasn't been "temporarily" shelved.

Taking a closer look at the retail vacancy data from the entire Chgoland area & the projections for new construction AND the amount of non-information (current) about the outlet mall in CC Hills, my guess is that it's been shelved until economic conditions improve.

Yes it was. They were suppose to have already broke ground fall of 2010, but they pushed it back to the early part of this coming year do to the poor economy, spring/summer 2011. Most of the retail space has already been leased. Country club hills has a very low retail vacancy rate. One of the lowest in the region. Lower than orland parks even, although orland has way more stores. And that location in country club hills has one of the best traffic counts than any undeveloped large piece of land in chicagoland.

Do you have a link to that info that wasn't written more than a year ago?

You would think that if they were scheduled to break ground in the next several months there would be something recent on it somewhere.

Country club hills is also vying for the casino that is slated to be in a south suburban location. I think that would be great if that happens.

I read it in the southtown but the complete story is no longer in there database. But here is a link to a news snippet from april which also quotes spring/summer of 2011 as the ground breaking time frame.

As far as the CCH project...all I can say is if the owners are smart, they will implement a curfew rule for kids under the age of 18 and that those under the age of 16 must be with a parent or guardian...This outlet mall does not need to become another River Oaks in terms of crowds of kids loitering and blocking flow and causing problems due to their behavior often. While this is not unique to River Oaks, this is the mall that has had the most problem with large groups of teens blocking pathways (and sometimes fighting).

As far as the Rosemont project, they need to insure that there is some type of shuttle service between the airport and the outlet center. I am pretty sure this would happen, but this is a must in order to enhance the O'Hare area for travellers (as well as locals).

I may be mistaken, but I think that this will not be a shopping mall. It will have more of a stand alone store concept to it. I am not a fan of the enclosed chessy shopping mall atmospere in general. When I go to malls I normally just shop at the anchor stores like carson's or macy's. Outlets and stand alone stores always draw a better shopping crowd in my opinion. Stand alone stores are more the future of retail. Malls are fading out. There hasn't been a new shopping mall built in the suburbs of chicago in the past 20 years. I would suspect that the crowd shopping at the outlets will look more like the crowd at say the new JCPenneys in matteson.

it is still very much a "shopping mall"...it is just based on the "outlet concept" instead of the "enclosed concept" of traditional malls. Nevertheless, the outlet and open-air concepts are not immune to a negative element hanging out there. There is a mall in the Milwaukee North Shore suburb of Glendale called "Bayshore Town Center". That mall (despite being near in affluent area) began going downhill. They redeveloped it into the moderately upscale mixed use town center it is today but there was still the teen crowd that caused problems. They implemented this curfew and it seriously curtailed the issue a lot.

I want to see Spencer's. Actually, I want to see Spencer's back in Lincoln Mall.

Maybe Hot Topic can come to this outlet mall? I'm not a big fan of Hot Topic but it would still bring me to the outlet mall every now and then.
