Question Elementary public schools Evanston/Skokie

We're moving to Evanston at the end of the summer. Our daughter is 3 but thinking of the future we would like to buy a house in a school district with double immersion (spanish/english) classes. At the elementary level I know that Dewey, Oakton, Washington and Dawes offer them. I'm very ignorant at how the public schools work. If we buy a house in Skokie, would it be possible for our daughter to attend one of these schools in Evanston? She is a truly bilingual child since she is acquiring both languages at the same time so she really does not qualify as a "limited English proficiency" student.
Any info. regarding this issue is greatly appreciated.

I don't know if a residency requirement applies with all public school districts in the state, but I'd pretty sure it does since the towns around me do including mine. I live in Elmwood Park, lived here my whole life (17 years) and the residency requirement has been around the whole time from what I believe, but not really enforced until a couple years ago when the schools were overcrowding. They suspected a lot of kids were attending the schools in the district when they shouldn't be by using a fake address, so when you register your kids they make you give 3 different types of evidence that you live at the address you claim to live at (DL, utility bill, tax bill, etc). About a year after the new enforcement is when the illegal immigrant enrollment story made the news (ask if you don't know about it) which made fire for the school but they still do the proof of residency. If it's a public school, call and ask if they have a residency requirement, if they do I wouldn't risk trying to use a fake address.

Check out the D65 site (Untitled (broken link)) for info. You can also google the district and see some meeting minutes. Best wishes for finding what you want.

Thanks guys!
I talked to the director of the bilingual program at district 69 (very sweet woman). It turns out that my daughter is eligible for the pre-K bilingual program (free!!) and she will be able to join the double immersion in Kindergarten two years from now at whatever district we decide to live. We're looking at NW Evanston since that is the area we like. It belongs to Willard SD.
thanks again.
