Default Commute from Orland Park to Willowbrook?

Does anyone know what the commute is like from Orland Park to Willowbrook during normal rush hour? Mapquest is saying 20 minutes for the 14 mile drive...but we all know that that isn't necessarily realistic.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has done this drive or knows someone who does.

Thanks so much!

When I used to do the drive it would take us any where between an hour and an hour 1/2. It also depends which part of OP you're starting from I was driving from 143rd & Will cook rd. but it will be longer the further into town you are. I found it worth it as I have lived closer to Willowbrook and didn't care for it, I miss OP. Good luck, and have a good one!

I want to tell you about the little short cut I know of to avoid the Orland Park rush going north on La Grange Rd. in the morning so you can get to Willowbrook faster. Take 143rd west to Bell Road then turn right at Bell. Take Bell north to IL-171 and turn right at the signal. Then at the next signal veer left onto Rte-83 northbound and take 83 north right into Willowbrook. Honestly I can make it to Willowbrook sometimes from the Orland area in about 20 minutes. 30 minutes max. Hope that little detour around all the heavy traffic helps you.

Thank you for the responses.

1 to 1.5 hours is just too long. We both did that sort of commute when we were younger and hated it.

DH will try the "shortcut" mentioned by NYrules sometime in the next week during rush hour. We don't live in Orland Park now...just thinking about it as a possibility.

Thanks again!

I work in Willowbrook, and have had occasion to go to Orland Park after work quite a few times. I would say you can average about 1/2 hour to the west side of Orland, maybe 40 minutes. East side of Orland (east of LaGrange Rd.) I would say 40 minutes at a minimum. Even on a bad day, it should be under an hour to the west side of Orland. As for the 143rd, to Bell Rd., to Rt. 83, that's the way to go. Avoid LaGrange Rd. at all costs, it's a parking lot during rush hour.

Thumbs up Take the shortcut

The Bell road short cut is very good, and I totally agree about staying away from LaGrange road. Where I lived in OP [143rd & Will Cook road] was and still is very nice as I still visit family/friends there quite often, I would love to be able to move back out there [if I could talk hubby into the commute as he works in Addison]
I lived there for 18 years and miss it very much.
