Default Living in Montgomery (Chicago Suburb), Illinois

Has anyone lived in Montgomery? I know lots of new houses are being constructed there! Would like to hear any comments/recommendations on the town. Thanks.

I am also interested in getting some information about Montgomery. There is a ton of discussion of nearly every other suburb in the Naperville/Wheaton area, but not much of Montgomery. Is this lack of discussion a sign to stay away? We are transferring to the area in a few months and we attracted to Montgomery because of the reasonable housing prices. Can any talk about the crime, schooling, community, is there a downtown, shopping, anything would be helpful.

Montgomery is wishy-washy. Overall Id give the town a 5 out of 10. The areas that border Aurora are junk, plain and simple. Quite a bit of crime, bad schools, bad traffic, etc. If you want to look into Montgomery, you have to look to its western edges. Look closer to the areas around Rt. 47. There are many new neighborhoods over there, and theyre pretty decent actually. There is shopping in nearby Yorkville or you can head to Naperville as well. If I were you, Id look into Elburn ANYDAY over Montgomery. Its a smaller town, the community seems to be tightly nit, there are better parks, and youre closer to St. Charles and Geneva which are two wonderful cities. The best thing about Elburn? Its not close to Aurora. Housing prices in Elburn should be comparable to those found in Montgomery as well. I dont know much about the schools in Elburn, but I dont hear anything bad nor good about them, but that doesnt mean anything. Perhaps someone who lives there can better help? Anyways, here are some pics I snapped of the Elburn area.
