Default Crete to Franklin Park commute

Greetings - I just started a new job and during the first week I need to train at an alternate facility. I currently live in Crete and will need to go to Franklin Park each day. I am wondering if anyone has an idea of how long this commute will take each morning and evening?

Thanks!

Forever, approximately. Plan on an hour and a half, minimum. More if there is any kind of weather or accident issues. I would allow 2 hours your first day to make sure you arrive on time.

Default There might be worse commutes, but few will require such a "tour o' expressways"..

You are talking about 60 miles 57 to 80 to 294 to 290 and then miles of surface streets. OUCH!

Two hours is not out of the ballpark, with any weather delays it might not be enough...

Even if traffic is moving well I can't see how this would be less than 80 - 90 minutes. You might wanna have a backup plan and stay at hotel maybe around Hillside or Westchester.

Crete to franklin park without traffic is just under a hour. With traffic maybe 60-90 minutes depending on how much traffic. You're talking about a 45 mile commute. Kinda far, but I wouldn't consider 45 miles to be an out of town trip. Some people commute 45 miles on a daily basis. Crystal Lake to downtown chicago is 48 miles. http://www.traffic.com/controller/ro...20park%2C%20il

Default Commute update

Thanks to everyone for thier input. I wish a hotel was an option, but it isn't. Both my husband and I have been unemployed over a year -- so I am thrilled with the job -- but I don't even know how I am going to get the gas money accumulated for the training for one week lol. Thankfully the job itself is just 20 miles from me.

I'm a little concerned to have such a variance of times from 45 minutes to up to two hours. 45 minutes seems way to short. When I worked downtown from here, it was less of a commute to Franklin park and took me an hour. Adding in possible bad weather and it could be a nightmare. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for good weather the week of the 24th!

Congrats on the job!!! Plan on a 2 hour travel time the first day and hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised. At the least, you will know more about time and the roads after you drive it once.
