Does anyone know where a few amateurs would be accepted to join a curling team in the suburbs? I've been wanting to get my wife involved in the sport and would love to be near a club. Also, we love ice skating and would love to wind up a few slap shots here and there on the weekends. Are ice hockey rinks pretty common in most suburbs in the Winter? What about curling clubs?

Thanks

I'd love to know the answers to these questions too - not for curling, but for peewee hockey - lessons and teams.

I think Northbrook has the only active curling club: Chicago Curling Club - Northbrook, IL - Cook County

There are TONS of youth hockey leagues in the northwest and western burbs -- DuPage alone has about a dozen rinks:
Downers Grove Ice Arena

Pepsi Ice Center

Seven Bridges Ice Arena

Carol Stream Ice Rink

Rocket Ice Arena

Fox Valley Ice Arena

Center Ice Of Du Page

International Ice Centre

Darien Sportsplex

Addison Ice Arena

Edge Ice Arena

Wilmette has a curling club too. Curling is mostly a CC sport in the Chicago area though.
