And by "degenerates" you mean people who don't make enough money to for upkeep of thier house? I'm sure they would gladly accept higher wages so as not to be degenerates anymore.
And anyway, sometimes a house is for rent and it's the landlords duty to keep up the condition of the house. And in undesirable areas, sometimes the landlord simply doesn't do his job because he knows he can get away with it.

If you can't care for your house, why did you buy it?

Eventually, it will need repairs and upkeep - to the point where city violations may eventually force you out.

That's part of home ownership.

As far as rental properties go, I have no idea. In my future in laws' Joliet neighborhood, there has been a huge increase of property crime and other illegal activities. Also, there is clearly a decrease in care for the properties.

but the poor people don't make enough money *cry*

boo hoo people... it really doesn't take any financial investment to clean up garbage or cut the grass... simple stuff. understandable if someone can't re-side their house or get brand new windows but you can tell when someone is just a lazy ass and when someone is poor.

Sometimes, financials situations change. That can quickly adjust how well someone is able to keep their property. It's not like they're proud or trying to run a contest on who can have the worst curb appeal.

So i looked up all of the houses for rent in Illinois and the ones in juliet are BEAUTIFUL I just dont understand all of the negitive things people are saying about it, I mean its ILLINOIS of course the crime rate is high. What do you think about Juliet?

Here are some of the houses we were looking at:

Joliet, IL Rental for Sale :: 1021 Trailsend Lane 60436 :: Prairie Shore Properties

Joliet, IL Rental for Sale :: 2105 E Washington Street 60433 :: Prairie Shore Properties
The western part of Joliet is the better side of town but its far too removed from everywhere. It's not bad at all just alot of distence from other towns I'd rather choose Romeoville or Tinley Park. At least you have the Stevenson and 57 nearby.

Punker Jim,

While you're sarcastically saying boo hoo, someone else is getting angry not sad. Speaking of which, isn't that what punk rock was all about anyway? Staying underground, never signing to major labels and raging against corporate power? I guess these days punkers like you, Punker Jim, kiss corporate a$$ and rage against poweless people who don't even have the expendible income to fix thier house. Sometimes those beat up houses on the outside have broken sinks on the inside, you know.

Sunny and Cloudy Days,

This is not always true. A good friend of mine has lived in a rented house in the Beacon Hill subdision in Chicago Heights for 25 years, except when he was living in the dorms. The landlord doesn't always take care of what he supposed to take care of if he knows he can't. The city never fixes the potholes in the street either and it's illegal for a citizen to fix it themself. When it snows, the plow just pases Beacon Hill right up on Western Avenue and goes elsewhere. Damn degenerates.

That does sound like a good name for a punk band though: The Degenerates.

That was supposed to be "powerless people" not "poweless people", btw. :-)

I thought I already made that edit though. I SAW IT being made on my phone and now it's not there anymore. I changed it to "sometimes a landlord doesn't take care of it if he knows he doesn't have to". And I fixed "passes Beacon Hill" and added he second S. Why does it say "edited at 10:11 PM" if I don't even see the edits?
