What Chicago suburbs tend to have a large asian population ... especially Filipinos. I am relocating back to the chicagoland area after 15 great years in So. Cal. Housing just got too expensive and too many illegal aliens. Secondly I fell in love with filipino food.. especially pancit.... so plese advise where they are so I can continue to get fat on filipino cuisine.

Skokie IL has a meaningful presence of your folks. Also the area south of O hare, Bensenville too.

I agree. There's a large population in the near north and northwest suburbs (ie. Skokie, Niles, Morton Grove, Des Plaines, Glenview, etc.), and then certainly pockets of Filipino stores, restaurants and population in far north side neighborhoods of the city, for example near the intersection of Montrose & Clark.

I believe there is a small Filipino population in Elgin, Carol Stream, Bloomingdale and Glendale Heights too.

I think maybe around crystal lake. I know here in St. Charles in the past we have an annual simbang gabi celebration at our parish. although I don't notice a lot of filippino residents, maybe they come from other areas - like crystal lake I notice.

Skokie and Morton Grove probably the biggest Filipino and Asian populations in the area (that I know of), Lincolnwood and Chicago north side aren't bad either.

Suburbs wise, the northwest/west suburbs have a decently large Filipino population. As said in posts before, I believe Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Bartlett, and South Elgin would apply.
Try also looking at the northwest suburbs in Lake County. Look at towns in the Stevenson district, Mundelein, or Vernon Hills. There is an Asian shopping center in Vernon Hills with a Filipino Supermarket and a Filipino Tapicoca place. Plus Vernon Hills has good schools and a lot of other Asian nationalities. |

Chicago is a majorly integrated melting pot. You'll find someone to relate to no matter where you go.

Gurnee and Park City in Lake County Illinois have higher Asian and Filipino populations and those areas are pretty decent and cheaper. More mixed racially, but pretty low crime over all. And they are close to the I-94 tollway, and Route 41, which can take you right into the city. Metra goes all the way up into Lake County, so you can take the train to the city if you want.
By the way, Illinois has plenty of illegals now too. Just so you know. California is not unique in that way anymore. |
