Default Lake Cook Road?

So it looks like Lake Cook Road might be an option for getting my FI from Lake in the Hills to work in Wheeling---I think he can take it almost the entire way. My question is, how bad is traffic on Lake Cook at around 6am and 3pm? Just trying to judge about how long of a commute. Thanks in advance.

Yikes, that is quite a commute. There are a couple routes he can take - Algonquin Rd (62) to Lake Cook into Wheeling being one. Algonquin Rd south a little past Lake Cook to Dundee Rd (68) into Wheeling being another.
Neither route is going to be quick or pleasant.
There is a LOT of traffic on 62 through LITH/Algonquin going out of town on 62 at pretty much all times of the day - especially any where near the rush hours. And Lake Cook is going to get slightly backed up through Barrington and REAL backed up through Palatine/Buffalo Grove into Wheeling. It is an expanded road around that area and it CAN go quick at times, but it's all pretty congested.
The Dundee road route might have slightly less traffic but it's a smaller road, lower speed limit with still some traffic problems in Palatine.

I feel for you with that commute. Either route will take well over an hour (maybe about an hour 20min) one way. Ouch.

Good Luck!

Ohhhh no Lake Cook is horrid in the mornings...traffic is at a complete stop at times as you go through Buffalo Grove & Wheeling.

Dundee Rd can be just as bad. I just commented in your other thread, but I commuted this distance up until June, and it was a nightmare.

The only plus might be because of your times (6 & 3) might make it a bit better, as I was traveling the standard times (7:30 & 4:30).
