You have this nailed down perfect

I have noticed a high concentration of German ancestry in the Chicago area

Believe most came to the region and settled down to farm the fertile ground.

The Pols did not start to come until much later, that has always been my understanding.

Hi Florian,

a fellow German here. If you have any specific questions to get a German perspective - let me know. I'm from Berlin and live in the northern Chicago suburbs (for 3.5 years now).

Janine

Hey Florian - I live in Pleasant Prairie and used to work in Kenosha until last month. Our company transferred production to another location so it is nice to hear that you are creating jobs here. It is a safe area with good schools but unfortunately has fallen on hard times. Anyway, I am actually trying to sell and/or rent my 4 bedroom place if you are interested. The outlet malls are ten minutes away and there is a Walmart 5 minutes away. A lot of people in northern Illinois move here because of the lower taxes and good schools. It is not the most metropolitan place but close enough to Chicago where you can easily go there on the weekend for a day out. Strangely enough my family and I also lived in Germany for a few years so let me know if you need any advice on Kenosha or the surrounding area. Viel Glueck!

Hello sam,

thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm looking for rental homes.
I'd be interested in.
Can you post what price you've in mind and also send some pictures?

Florian

Sam, do you have links or detailed information on the quality of schools? Not being "snarky", truly interested in knowing.

Hey Cubs Fan - no problem. I don't have any hard evidence just empirical....I live near a couple teachers that work in Illinois but have chosen to move across the border to put their own children thru school. I have heard that comment from several people though and judging by the number of Chicago Bears flags I am surrounded with in my neighborhood you can see that others have made a similar choice.
