Hey guys, I am looking for a good veterinarian in the northwest suburbs. My dog suffers from severe allergies and liver damage. Any suggestions would be great. I'm willing to travel. Just need some advice and personal experience. I've been through a lot in the past 4 years trying to help him. It seems a good vet is hard to find these days

Thanks so much,
L

http://www.vetspecialty.com/

the above has specialists aslo google vca vet clinics

I have been to the Berwyn Clinic for our dog
believe they too have different specialists on staff
Berwyn Veterinarians | VCA Berwyn Animal Hospital | Home

Purdue is known for specialists as well as Illinois

Call the clinic and certainly check into both places
I have read stories both good and bad

I love Dundee Animal Hospital - the original location in Dundee Dundee Animal Hospital | Caring For Your Best Friend
They have 24 emergency service. Dr. Maras saw me through many years with a diabetic cat, and then later with an English Mastiff with a heart murmur that had us really freaked out. She's a wonderfully caring vet and she really seems to know her stuff. The mastiff made it to 11 yrs old and they were really wonderful when it was the end.

I also have to say that Dundee Animal Hospital has been great for my 10 year old lab. He has periodically gotten tumors, some malignant, some benign, since he was 5. They have been great about testing and determining when surgery was required, and when to take the wait-and-see approach. They have operated on him twice and it has saved his life.

More recently he has been dealing with fairly severe arthritis and was prescribed a combination of pain medication and herbal supplements that strike the balance between fixing the problem and concern for side affects. Within a couple of weeks he went from barely climbing stairs and trembling in pain to playing like he was 5 again, and these results have been sustained for about 6 months so far.

If you are willing to travel I recommend Blum Animal Hospital and Dr Dann in Lakeview. He has been voted the best vet in the city time and again. I have been seeing him for 11 years and moved to Lake Zurich last month and have no plans of going anywhere else. He is like an encyclopedia and his bedside manner is out of this world.
