Denver Collects Fines On Drivers Who Stop At Red Lights CBS Denver

Quote:
DENVER (CBS4) The city of Denver is bringing in thousands of dollars in fines every year by ticketing people who stop at red lights. They are ticketed because their tire goes over the white line that marks where the vehicle should stop.
This story from Denver, CO got me thinking. Have any of you gotten tickets for stopping over the white stop line?

Is there a law like this in IL?

If the intersection is red light photo enforced, then you will be ticketed for stopping after the line (AFAIK).

They recently changed it slightly to give some lee-way, you can stop passed the white line now, but the no-nos are blowing the light completely, or turning on red without coming to a complete stop.

The most common cause for a red light ticket is rolling through on a red while turning right. The "California roll" is not considered legal here.
