Parking in Evanston (Chicago: renting, house, residential)

Hi folks,

First post on here and I'm happy to join the community.


I'm thinking of getting a place in Evanston. Can anybody tell me what street parking is like on the southeast side (I think that's southeast side )near Judson & Main? My roommate would need to drive to work each day and would prefer easy street parking.

Evanston's system is generally a little better than Chicago and odds are good that residents will not have too big a zone to have walkable parking options.

True, Chet. However, you do have to take into account the snow parking rules too. If a snow emergency happens, they usually open a few lots to public parking. You have to be aware of alternate side of the street parking during winter for snow cleaning and fall for street cleaning from the leaves.

Street cleaning is to be expected anywhere in the area, as is snow. Aside from those times, do you guys know what parking is like for somebody working 8am-6pm?

When I was renting, I rented a parking space in a nearby lot. Street parking was impossible after work. When we had our house, we had a garage, so things were easier. There was parking in front of my house too with a residential parking sticker.
