In the Chicago suburbs the coverage that Verizon has is generally inferior to ATT. The legacy of Bell Labs & Lucent in the region meant LOTS more ATT personal to recommends site to the cell planners.

Verizaon and Sprint phones using CMDA technology roam on the same towers. Sprint 4G phones seem to offer excellent 4G/3G coverage in most areas. I have an old friend who is a LD hauler tha travels nationwide. He has the 4G from Sprint and loves it because he can watch the Cubs and Bears games and movies. I have a Sprint and a Verizon phone. I had AT&T and T-Mobile in the past. What I learned is twofold

US Cellular works well in Oak Park. I know a lot of people that switched from AT&T to USC, and they've all been pretty happy. Don't know about Verizon or Sprint.

I've lived in Oak Park for 7+ years and have had Verizon as my carrier the whole time. I rely on my cell phone exclusively, no land line. I have never had a problem with the service at all and am certainly planning on renewing my contract with them in the future.
