For some reason, over the last week or so, I've been reading about crimininals that are just flat out stupid in their ability to commit a crime. Obviously, that's why these people are criminals and not working for NASA but it just amazes me that someone actually comes up with these idiotic ideas thinking they will work.

Cops: Man stole gifts, tried to return them to store — Schaumburg news, photos and events — TribLocal.com

Some other recent gems...the guy that stole the donation jar in Crestwood (caught on video...oh and by the way, he had just paid for something with a credit card and signed a credit card slip.)

Then there are the two guys that would offer to buy something off Craigs list, meet the person to make the exchange, rob them of the item, then go right back onto Craigslist to try and resell said item. Genius!

Obviously I feel sorry for the victims but I also have to just laugh at how embarrassed these guys feel when they get caught...

These are all petty crimes. I guess it lies in the reality that PEOPLE can be really stupid.

It takes a certain amount of intelligence to do something like lead a gang. Not that joining a gang is a smart thing to do but smart people do stupid things all the time..

I am glad the Crestwood thief has been nabbed. He must be the lowest form of scum. Fortunately donors made up the difference and more. Some of these dumb crooks must be on drugs. Nobody is that stupid. And one dumb criminal DID work for NASA. http://articles.nydailynews.com/2009...apology-letter

I love the nitwits that dial 911 to report that their drugs were stolen! And this is just ONE example: Steven Dragon | Cocaine Stolen From Trunk, So Man Calls 911, Police Say (http://www.myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/crime/steven-dragon-cocaine-stolen-man-calls-911-20100916 - broken link)

I think the Darwin awards come out at the end of the year so they'll be some stiff competition.
Some of the leaders would be the guys stealing the copper insulation on the electrical system that end up being electrocuted. Justice served (well done at that).

Smart criminals don't get caught, they get elected & rewarded in the multitude of ways. Your point? Judging by the warning labels on the coffee cups etc., IQ distribution of the law abiding citizenry is not a spike around 150 either.

The lowest form of scum is a guy who embezells hundreds of thousands of dollars when he is already living in a mansion and driving a BMW.

There are three words that describe the OPs criminals: gene pool rejects.
