Hey Everyone,

I'm considering working in Griffith, IN but want to live as close as possible to Chicago without having a long commute. It's a 35 mile commute, which can take a long time with traffic. I'm trying to find a south Chicago suburb or area in Indiana along the border that I can live in to split the distance in half. I'm a single young professional female who needs a safe place to live. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hammond is a good option on this criteria alone but what are you concerns as far as schools, neighborhoods and amenities?
