My wife and I are looking at Elmhurst and I know that it has great schools but my question is are the schools in north elmhurst considered just as good as in south Elmhurst? Are there down sides to living in northern elmhurst as opposed to south? Any and all info is appreciated.

The only thing I can think of is that the Ohare airport traffic can be pretty loud in certain parts of North, how far north? North of Lake Street? Or just north of St. Charles road. Far south, is by Butterfield road. South Elmhurst is nice.

If you stay south of Lake Street you will likely be happiest, and will pay more $$ too. (also less airport noise) I think the area north by Berens park is OK.

I believe all the students go to York high school. Which is supposedly highly rated. With how much money those people pay for those houses, I am sure that their schools are good. however, if you have a special ed kid, I would not suggest Elmhurst (personal: not saying why).
