I am hoping to relocate for a job in Wheeling and would like to live halfway between Wheeling and LITH, where family is.

Any recommendations on apartments halfway between Lake In The Hills and Wheeling? Washer Dryer in Unit are a must.

Single female so a safe neighborhood is a must.

Or-- for those more familiar with the area, would the commute from Lake In The Hills/Crystal Lake/Algonquin to Wheeling every day be terrible?

IMO the issue with an apartment half way in Barrington or Lake Zurich is that you still have a 30 minute + commute and your in a suburb that may not be compelling for a single person. Whereas if you lived in say, downtown Arlington Heights, you would be less than 30 minutes to work, would be able to walk to restaurants, bars, coffee shops, stores, grocers, movie theater, live theater, library and parks. The Metra train to downtown Chicago is close as well. Then you can drive to LITH evenings after the rush hour quiets down or on weekends when it is about 30-40 minute drive. And no, I wouldn't want to commute LITH to Wheeling especailly if you are west of the Fox River. The Rte62 and 31 intersection becomes a mess during ruch hour.
