Question Merrionette Park?

Hi. I am looking to move closer to work. I am looking for a safe, quiet area. I took a drive around Merrionette Park and the area seemed nice, and only 7 miles north of where I work. Of course, looks can be deceiving. I was wondering if anyone who lives/lived there or nearby can tell me anything about it. Is it quiet (aside from bourbon street), is it changing and if so for better or worse, and in 5 years what will the area be like?
I currently live in the new lenox/frankfort area and don't care for the rapidly expanding population and congested roads that accompanied it when they didn't expand any major roads. (Route 30)
Now that I'm officially in my mid-20s I am moving out of my parents house and this will be my first home.
Thank you for any help.

Merrionette Park is a very nice little starter community for young families. Most all the homes there are built circa 1940's-1950's and are typically slab style houses that have about 3 BD, 2 BA, with typically a 2 car detached garage. Lot sizes are about the same as to what you would find in the city. With some hunting you could probably find a little fixer upper there for about $200,000, fix it up, and make some money doing it once you are ready to sell as homes in the area don't stay on the market that long there with the sheer number of newly weds looking to start off there. Overall the community is primarily white and is very safe. MP if you are just starting out might be a good choice for you.

MP is a nice little area. Traffic is light in the surrounding areas, with the possible exception of Pulaski in Alsip, but even that isn't too bad. You will share a library district with Alsip. MP seems to have a lot Mt. Greenwood spinoff families. Don't know the housing market too well.

Thanks guys. After looking for less than a week I was able to find the perfect place, and I believe the community will fit me.
