I've been looking around the northern and northwest suburbs and I am very impressed with Kildeer and Long Grove. Large lots, wooded area, and very nice homes. The only problem is that Kildeer and Long Grove are very expensive- around the same or higher prices/taxes than Riverwoods.

Anyone think prices in these areas will go down a whole lot more? Even with the housing market in bad shape, it seems it's very hard to find anything affordable in both these suburbs. While it wouldn't break the bank for me, I do consider all the costs such as taxes, utilities, and everything else since it all adds up.

When a city or village enacts acre minimum zoning and requires fire sprinklers, among other restrictions, it clearly is not thinking of affordable housing.

The home prices in those areas have already declined substantially from their peak.
