Unhappy So I heard Zion and Waukegan are getting really bad.

I left the midwest around 2009. I lived in waukegan (just between waukegan and beach park).

A friend came over to cali today. Told me that it was getting really bad. The gangs from the main city started moving in.

It's crazy. I feel sick thinking about it. I called it home for years and really miss it.

Ironic thing is that the area I am living in now is my neighborhood in L.A. LA is my home town. The area I was at was hot. Gunshots and gangs. Now it's gotten better.

It was like a trade off. I feel bad for alot of my friends that I left that are still there in Illinois.

Default Crime is stable in Waukegan and Zion.

I don't doubt that it's pretty bad, considering its location on the map. However, looking at the statistics, crime in both cities has been stable in the past ten years. At no point was there any significant increase or decrease in crime. So no, it's not "getting really bad". In Waukegan, crime is just a little above the national average. Crime in Zion in 2009 was close to double the national average. However, compared to Chicago Heights, Calumet City and Harvey in the south suburbs, crime is low.

Neither city has been that fashionable for a long time. I doubt they have really fallen that much. Zion got hit hard when the power plant, providing most of its property tax revenue, shut down. But that was almost 20 years ago.
