Hello All,

I am a 21 year old relocating to Chicago with my boyfriend of 4 years. We are moving to Chicago from Boston (we hate it here!) and are looking to move to the city itself or to the burbs. Our main concern however is we need a place in the range of $900 and below!

We would prefer a place in the city itself or somewhere that is a short train ride away, but dont want to live in one of the college neighborhoods. We are a quiet artsy couple who isnt into drinking all night and screaming "WOOOHOO" down the streets at 4 in the morning!

We are seeking a one or two bedroom apartment that is on the nicer side and wouldnt mind living further away from the city in order to get a nicer/larger place. Any suggestions?

You should have no problem finding something close to the city for under $900 a month. Granted youll have to ask the experts what neighborhood is safe or not, but that kind of rent is very doable. I lived in a small luxury apartment in Naperville (which may or may not suit your needs) and paid $960 for a one bedroom.

Default Thanks!

Well thank you for that kind advice/ words of encouragement. How far of a commute is Naperville to Chicago? Do you take the train?

The commute by train would be the only way Id do it personally. Expect a good 40 mins to an hour from Naperville, but I could be wrong. By car it can take anywhere from 45 minutes to a good 2 hours at times. Steer clear of taking a car to Chicago, IOW.
