Go down 59 to Roberts rd (go left) down to River rd, (go left) There is a couple of nice sub divisions on your right that back to the river. Then keep going down to Kelsey,(go right) and follow Kelsey to rt.22, go left (past the hospital) and you will wind up back at 59. Right takes you back to downtown Barrington (Be careful, in case of road work which was bad on 14 and 59, side streets are you friend.) Good luck.'' Kelsey Rd House'' is a popular place for a bite, as is ''Onion Pub'' (on Pepper rd) For these places,You would have to stay on Kelsey(dont turn on 22) to Pepper rd for Onion or to where Kelsey ends on rt 14 for the Road House ) Have fun!

Pegs56 is on a distinguished road
I'm so glad to see the comments about the last batch of photos (thanks SM-II!). I thought perhaps I was being an architectural snob. As I was looking, the phrase "more money than brains" kept popping into my head. Esp. jarring after the latest lovlies Steve-O posted (I'm a sucker for Vicktorian/Queen Anne).

Now, is it just me, or is house #10 from 60 Minutes-II something for which the architect should be shot ( or at least smacked a bit)? Or perhaps the people who paid for his/her services & insisted they wanted "this, that & the other thing" ? I'm all for mixing styles, when it's complementary or at least logical, but Greek columns with a portico, German turrets & Spanish roof tiles??? WHAT were they thinking? How to win the Ugliest House contest? No offense to anyone who thinks it looks splendid.

Back to Barrington in general. There used to be a church on the South side of Lake Cook Road heading out of town (going East), that we used to say looked as if a tornado blew part of the roof off (or caused it to fall). Does anyone know the church I'm talking about? Anyone got a picture? I tried looking for it with Google Earth, but couldn't make out if it's there or not. Don't remember the name of the church. Unfortunately, no Street View of that part of Lake Cook, either. Thanks in advance!

I actually thought the house looked pretty cool. Forgive me, I must have bad taste. I will ride lake cook road and try to look for that church. Is it in the downtown area?

I dont know if this is on the one but there was a lovely old church with a steeple on 59 as you are leaving town south. It was damaged by a fire. They eventually tore it town and left a small park in its place. Their new church is on the corner of Algonquin and 59 and it is a HUGE multi building complex. I guess they had great insurance?
