Hinsdale is not so snobby from my experience. I don't understand why people make assumptions. They were probably wondering why you were photographing their neighborhood. Just like when Google Streetview was taking shots of my town I was at first curious.

New construction in downtown St. Charles....

Miguel's Mexican Restaurant's new outdoor patio:

New sitting area under construction behind downtown:

The Steel Beam Theater:

Newly completed parking garage:

Also new construction going on the building right next to Miguel's:

Also of mention is the new waterfront condo project that is well underway (in the spot of the old Manor Restaurant's locale). Will get pics of that soon.

Down the road in Geneva... new condos and storefronts on 3rd:

Not new, but just some charming storefronts:

Default Moving to Chicago

My wife and I will be moving to the Chicago area some time this summer. We know absolutely nothing about the Chicago burbs. I will be working in Rosemont and I'm looking for a very nice area to live, i.e., low crime, tree lined streets, quiet, but offers a lot, and no more than 30 minutes to drive to work. This will be my last job before retiring in 2012. We may end up retiring there, but will rent for the first couple of years until we make that final decision. We can afford to pay about $1,500 to $1,800 per month for rent. 2-3 bedrooms will be enough. Both kids are in college, so it's just her and I. I'm 53 and she is 50. What do you recommend? We sincerely appreciate any feedback.

You may want to start a new thread on this, but I would check out Arlington Heights. Nice, vibrant downtown, easy commute for Rosemont, metra to the city. You could find a place right in town and walk everywhere. Good luck with your move.

If you're working in Rosemont, you might consider Park Ridge. Fits your description, close to Rosemont - and everyone I've known who's lived there has loved it. Good mix of housing options too.

I'm in Wheaton! Thanks for taking pictures of my lovely town. It's quite nice. Although, the first picture of condos aren't new. They've been there for quite some time. I believe that's the picture that you took near the post office.

Thanks! You make us look good!
