I would say stick to the north side/downtown if you want to meet young professionals because they are definitely around considering that there are alot of corporate offices on the north-side by 88 and north central college is downtown. I would avoid the south/west side because it is alot more family oriented. But personally i wouldn't want to live in naperville unless I had children because there is no point of paying those taxes unless you are sending children to those schools

Much of Naperville is comprised of young professionals. There are also plenty of middle class people as well. It has 150k people, so if you want to find your niche you can probably find it. Commuting to the loop on the express train is 33 minutes. Commuting by car not in traffic takes 45 minutes if you are on the North side of Naperville. Have no idea what the commute is in rush hour to the city by car but it takes me 45 minutes to get to Ohare each morning.
I live in Naperville and believe that the majority of residents are families. There are 150K residents, but consider how many of them are children. Families make up a huge part of the population here, and I believe the average number of children is pushing three. District 203 covers about 18K students, and 204 includes 29K students, so that's nearly 1/3 of the population right there, and that doesn't count the kids who are in private school or homeschooled, or the little ones not in school yet!

If I were a single person, or a half of a married couple without children, and I wanted to live in or near Naperville, I would look near the downtown area for an apartment. Being able to walk to the train, and not having to park downtown when I wanted to do some shopping, would be awesome.

Lisle also seems very nice (it's next door), and there's a massive apartment complex near the movie theater and golf course. I have also seen some places in north Aurora, just to the west of Naperville by the train station, that look new and well kept.

Exactly. It's bizarre to me that anyone would claim otherwise.

I agree with this too, but near North Central College it has a lot of single and young, also in the apartments just north of the downtown area.

But is it like NIU when there's a massive traffic jam on the road which leads to I-88 on Friday afternoon? Just because they sleep there between classes doesn't necessarily mean they "live" there if you know what I mean.

Default North Central is NOT a "commuter" type school ...

The kinds of students that are attracted to North Central College are considerably different than those that are driving too / from NIU -- cost structure is very different, as are the kinds of things the kids major in...

Really the OP asked about "young professionals" and that does not mean exclusively "college kids" (which make up a tiny percentage of people in Naperville...) nor just "singles" but there certainly ARE lots of "young professionals" in Naperville, a fair number of whom are single (with or without kids of their own..)

i dont think you can really nail down a location as having a high population of young professionals. i would say maybe certain condos and townhouses at certain price point since being a young professional generally means your just starting out and in a certani place financially. there's also certain apartments where you may find more but i cnat think of a specific area where i would say tns of young professionals. lisle which isn't far has four lakes thats an area with a lot of young professionals.

as for naperville yeah nicer homes are going to be more families and more established people however with the economy and people styaing at home longer your going to find a lot of college grad age to 30 year old young professionals living with their parents in the nicer neighborhoods. railway apartments has a decent amount of young professionals. its next to a bar total sports nad also across parking lot from train. there are a decent amount of young professionals but also tons of families and 40ish people as well.

i do agree downtown naperville would be nice. probaly more young professionals than other areas of naperville plus your in suc close proximity to downtown naperville and there's where lots of the young professionals are going to hang out at the bars, be taking the train, college kdis at north central, etc.

I didn't know young prefessionals excluded families... When I think young professional, I think someone I their 20's or 30's with a six figure income, or a professional degree. They can be married or single, have kids or no kids.

I tend to think of a young, childless lifestyle, with a college degree (not necessarily a graduate degree) and a professional-type job with an average income or above.

This is what I was referring to in my OP.
