Hi Everyone,

right now I live in chicago. I was looking for buying an apartment that's near chicago, as my job is here. Also, I would like to know the safer places. I am an Indian and want to know where our communities live so as to feel-at-home.

Grateful,

Default Where to Buy

How much are you looking to spend on a home? This will determine where you should start looking.

well you don't have to scare the guy. There are plenty of safe neighborhoods in and around Chicago....We can't all be so lucky to live in CA

Also, lets not forget that there are no gangs in CA, you know in cities like Compton, Watts, LA itself. LOL! Guess thats why the famous movie "Falling Down" was filmed there.

Smile Evanston

Although I no longer live there, my home town Evanston is a wonderful place to live. It's racially and economically diverse and I have never known any related tensions. It tends to be on the pricey side but is well worth it if you can afford it. You have access to Lake Michigan, a great city library, lots of churches and Northwestern University. The current mayor is an African American woman with whom I went to church, she loves the city and is doing a fine job. In terms of Indian culture, a quick drive up western Avenue to Devon puts you into a huge Indian neighborhood with lots of restaurants, businesses and cultural information. They have a huge Indian parade annually. Parking is atrocious around Devon but but you can hop on the number 49B bus to get there.

Hope this helps.

Buying an apartment or renting one? Evanston rocks if you can afford a condo there.
Wicker Park has been cleaned up too. If you don't mind taking a 15 minute train ride into the city for work I would suggest Park Ridge. Very nice town just bordering the NW side of the city.

There is a small but growing Indian community in the Waukegan/Gurnee area. The schools are excellent. Metra will get you to Chicago in a little over an hour. If that's too far out for you, give serious consideration to Skokie or Des Plaines. They are nice, clean and safe and have large Indian communities.

Aurora, Il is a great place to live. We are at the end of the Burlington line so there is easy access to Chicago as well as access via I-88. Property and rental is lower than Chicago. We are a college town, home of Aurora University as well as Waubonsee Community College. Shopping, shopping, shopping, yay! We are home to one of Illinois' largest enclosed malls, Fox Valley Mall as well a huge discount Mall, right off I-88 on Farnsworth. Shopping Centers galore. We are ethnically diverse. We are new in housing as well as histori9c in our well kept older neighborhoods. We are a city of Churches! Please come ans visit us!
