Hello Everyone

i am moving to Naperville and looking for advice for parking in Naperville Metra parking lot on daily fee based parking. I have read earlier threads on this topic but nothing is recent since 2010. Are there any private place where we can park our car for a monthly fee?

How bad is daily fee parking lot? does it get full at 6:30am itself?

Thanks!
Mahesh

Generally speaking, to be assured of a spot in daily parking at the 5th Avenue station, you need to be there by about 6:45, at least lately. You are often ok as late as 7:00. Then, there are the spaces for use only after 9:00. Be aware that there are several areas for daily parking; the city website with the map is down right now, but there are maps at the station.

The parking is better generally on Fridays and around holidays and in the Summer, and worse when there is a snow storm.

I know that there are a few businesses that rent out their parking (there is one business a couple of blocks to the north on Washington), and have heard of homeowners doing this as well, but have no firsthand knowledge of this.

If you miss the daily fee parking, then unfortunately there is not a lot of recourse: you can try parking illegally or in a permit lot (you have about a 50% chance of a citation in my experience), trying another Metra station (Belmont seems to be the best bet), or of course just driving in..

The daily fee is $2 and most fill up by 7am. You can pay by cash, card, or over the phone. However, their are spots in the very front but aren't available until 8am and fill up by 8:30am, at the latest. The spots in the front are only good until 5pm so just make sure you are back and not get a ticket.
