Roselle has done quite a bit to upgrade their core downtown over the last few years but it still is a big step down from towns like Glen Ellyn or Wheaton. Elk Grove Village has no real traditional core and would not compare favorably to these either.

Park Ridge has a lovely downtown and is quite convenient to O'Hare though the costs tend to be considerably higher...

If the OP is coming from a western Boston suburb like Weston, Wayland, Sudbury, Lincoln, etc, then Park Ridge will be no problem, in terms of finances. Other Boston suburbs are a little less-pricey, although it should be pointed out that Boston metro housing is very expensive...

Hey Everyone,

I'm also from Boston and looking to relocate to Chicago next year. I'm a single, 29yr old male and I have a daily IT job that I can do from my home so I am looking for a 2 bedroom (preferably apartment) someplace close to Chicago but I am not opposed to suburbs as I live 7 miles out of Boston right now.

What is a reasonable priced neighborhood/suburb with parking and spacious rooms? I'm looking to be 10-15 miles from the city.

Thanks so much!

Do you mean 10-15 minutes away or miles?

Park Ridge is nice and compares somewhat favorably to St. Charles and Geneva. Wheaton and Glen ellyn are also charming towns and are closer in a bit which I like and are directly on the train line and closer to expressways and toll ways. I find the Geneva St. charles are just a tad too far away to get into the city for me. Morton Grove, Elk Grove Village and Roselle are not bad places but do not favorably compare to the towns mentioned above.
