The south suburbs aren't bad because they are diverse, they're bad because of the low quality of life that infects that region. Nothing but decline no matter how far out they continue building.

Still, it's kinda sad when it's nothing but one race as far as the eye can see. The south suburbs are better in this regard.

The school test scores sing a different tune.

The test scores are terrible in many of these communities, yeah. Thanks for pointing that out! Nothing a quick google search wouldn't have revealed but we're glad you're here to inform. Now how do you propose to fix it?

You can't fix something that doesn't WANT to be fixed. Your problem is that you don't want them to take responsibility for themselves. Why should everyone else help them if they choose not to help themselves. That's like a teacher trying to help a student that never comes to class and never does the work and is disrespectful to the ninth degree! There's nothing you can do for someone like that but let them fail.

Default Sauk Village

I came across this and it is just...sad...it also goes to show that moving further south doesn't always have it's advantages...especially when the employment centers are further north...

I would guess that many of the residents here (who moved from places like South Holland, Harvey, Dolton, Markham, South Side Chicago) would probably move back if they had a choice and could...Sauk Village is just as bad as inner city areas! Only difference is that some inner city areas are either gentrifying (thus continuing to push out folks to the FAR south suburbs or the city is trying to force gentrification (Whole Foods in Englewood? ) which will make matters worse.

All in all, it is sad...and just a glimpse into why moving further out is not always an advantage:

SAUK VILLAGE HOUSING DILEMMA

10-20 years from now? I see Sauk Village as even worse.

Ok, South and a little east. With a large forest preserve in between itself and Indiana.

If you go just across the state line into Indiana aren't your property taxes just a fraction of the ones in Illinoise? Sure was the case around Terre Haute and the Quad Cities. Just wondering.
