If you use Redfin you can search by school district (I'm not sure if other search sites do district search)-- what's your budget?

If something doesn't make sense, I blame autocorrect.

There are NO parts of Wheeling that attend Hersey High School. The dividing line is south of Palatine Rd and west of Wheeling Rd attends Hersey except for the Arlington Vista neighborhood off the NE corner of Windsor and Palatine-but that neighborhood is Arlington Heights.

I think your friend is mistaken. The high school is determined by where you live within the district.
