I shall be relocating to Chicago from the UK in 2008 with my family (children aged 10 & 12) and am just starting the process. I shall be working in the Mount Prospect area and am after some advice on desirable places to live in and around this area.
I am prepared to commute up to 45 minutes to get to work but obviously the closer the better. Could you please advise me on good places to live? I expect to have a monthly budget of up to $3000 for rent. I look forward to your replies. Kind regards Steve |

Park Ridge is a wonderful family community. The schools are very good and it's close to Mount Prospect.

We just moved here from FL 4 months ago, but I'm originally from NJ. We chose Lake Zurich which I don't think would be too bad a commute. Our children are 7 and 4 and we're quite pleased with the schools. Good luck to you!

I would highly recommend Arlington Heights. Very desirable area, very good schools, vibrant, busy "downtown" village, lovely, older n'hoods, many restaraunts, shopping, excellent hospital/medical and metra (train) to the city with an easy commute to Ohare airport and very easy commute to Mt Prospect. Pleae check it out. You can even do a "Search" of Arlington Hts on this forum -much info. I'm afraid Lake Zurich would be a difficult commute in my opinion. You could take rt 12 (Rand) all the way, but its all stop lights and much traffic. Good luck with that very big move, and welcome to Illinois
