Are Lombard public schools good, decent? My husband was offered a job in Lombard. We're interested in living in La Grange, but I seriously doubt we can afford a house in the safest section of La Grange. I looked on realtor.com and we can definitely afford the housing in Lombard, but we want good schools for our boys.
Anyone have opinions on the Lombard public school system? Thanks, summers19 |

Lombard School District 44 Schools, Illinois - IL: charter and public schools.
Check out this link. I haven't heard anything bad about the schools here, I believe there are two districts. I can certainly vouch for the neighborhoods. |

Lombard schools are good but not great. I would look into Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, and Downers Grove. They are close to Lombard, a little more affordable than La Grange, have better schools than Lombard, and are all safe family-oriented towns.

Woodridge and Downers Grove have a good school district.

I think all the elementary and middle schools are fine, but I've heard the high school is not good from a current high schooler, she said the cops are there almost every day stopping fights.

There are NO sections of LaGrange that are "UNSAFE", though there are sections that are defiantly quieter/more desirable than others. I don't know for certain that anything is going to be out of reach in LaGrange vs Lombard. I would suggest shopping Countryside and the surrounding area to.
Lombard is BIG town that is very spread out. Some sections are real nice, but others have some downsides being sandwiched into areas where zoning shifts abruptly and other situations that you really have to map out case-by-case. I don't know if it is the best use of a tranferee's time to try and track down that kind of info... |
